Nurturing the Roots of Motherhood

By Mothers, For Mothers

We were never meant to navigate the transition and transformation of motherhood alone

Mother Roots emerged from a heartfelt understanding that becoming a mother can sometimes feel like treading on uncharted territory, and a paradox of chaos and love. Our community is built by mothers who have walked this path, for mothers who are embarking on this beautiful yet challenging journey. We're here to steady you as you find your footing in your new identity and help you make meaningful sense of your experiences.

A Safe Haven for Connection and Growth

Our space is a judgment-free zone, an empathic corner of the world where mothers can unite, share, and thrive. At Mother Roots, you'll find a community that is attuned to your needs, connected by shared experiences, and resilient in the face of motherhood's complexities.

A Vision of Empowered Motherhood

At Mother Roots, we believe that well mothers are the cornerstone of thriving families and communities. Our vision is to nurture a community of mothers who are less isolated in their struggles and more supported through the transitions of motherhood. By fostering this supportive network, we contribute to healthier generations and a more compassionate world.

Support from Conception to Parenthood

While every stage of motherhood deserves support and connection,

we focus on the first 7 years of family formation, which are periods of massive change for mothers and

developmentally impactful for children. By supporting this season of life, we help families get a healthy start,

influencing wellness across the lifespan.

The pillars of our programming includes education, wellness peer-support and resources.

Our first event will launch on May 1, 2024, with additional programming to follow.

"It's time to change our ways, to pick up the threads of knowledge that we forgot

and weave them into a new kind of fabric to hold the mother.

We must do it for ourselves and for our children, because the way women become

mothers profoundly affects the way their children awaken to this world.

When you take care of the mother, you take care of the child"

Raising Resilience:
A World Maternal Mental Health Day Event

May 1, 2024  I  8:20 a.m -4:30 p.m EST

International experts in maternal health and wellbeing will speak on topics impacting mothers and parents from conception to postpartum, and early parenthood. Attend this inaugural event in-person at St. Lawrence College, Kingston, Ontario, Canada or online via Zoom.

From One Mother to Another

My name is Caitlyn Chisamore.

I adore my two year old daughter and love being a mother, however many things about the passage into parenthood surprised me.  As as much as I prepared, I was deeply impacted by the polarities of motherhood, and the physical, emotional and psychological fluctuations of postpartum, including depression and anxiety.  The phrase "When a baby is born, a mother is born" rang true for me in every sense.

Based on my experiences and what I was witnessing with other new mothers, I saw a need for a combination of education, wellness, peer-support and access to resources for the range of challenges mothers face. Like myself, Mother Roots is a work in progress, and what I am building is an effort to create what I wish I had when my journey began.

Wellbeing is subjective, and with the ever-changing demands and shifting experiences that occur in motherhood, curiosity and experimentation is required to nurture a sense of aliveness and balance.

I bring a diverse background in wellness, with training in trauma-informed somatic trauma therapy, yoga, bio-mechanical breathing and polyvagal practices. I offer a multi-faceted approach that encourages autonomy and empowerment. With a passion for life-long learning, I continue to build upon my knowledge and trainings in perinatal, maternal and paternal mental health, with the intention of supporting resilience in parenthood.

May the programming and community found here offer hope, lightness of being, and a comforting sense that you are not alone.
